A Handmade Gallery!

Bug's Splatter is a handmade artist gallery. Many of our artists call the Tampa Bay area their home. You will find a unique blend of wall art, including photography, watercolors, oils, pastels and acrylics. Jewelry, ceramics, pottery, art glass, fabric art and metal works are but a few of the delights inside our doors. You may also discover a few vintage pieces to inspire your inner artist.

A Unique Gift!

A handmade, one-of-a-kind gift for a friend or loved one can say, “I really put some thought into this!” Do you know a bird lover? We have unique birdhouses and feeders. Choose from handcrafted jewelry and hand thrown pottery pieces, beautiful hand dyed silks and boxed art cards. You'll be sure to make someone smile.

Home Decor!

Looking for a unique piece to grace the walls of your home or to place in just that certain spot? You can find that here. Want a custom piece? Bug's Splatter can put you in touch with an artist to help you create a work of art to your specifications.

FEATURED ARTIST: ALENE WELLS

FEATURED ARTIST: ALENE WELLS

Arlene began her art career in Saudi Arabia where her husband was employed by Aramco for five years.  Connecting with others who were temporarily residing outside their home country and who were also professional artists, Arlene engaged in private lessons and visited museums and galleries all over Europe and Asia during their extensive travels.

Upon returning to the States, she completed college courses in drawing, painting, graphic design, and illustration.  She taught art basics to both adults and children for Seminole Community School for five years and also worked as an interior designer producing unique home décor items for clients.  Arlene also served with the North Tampa Arts League for seven years holding offices as Events Chair, Vice President and President.   Since moving to Lakeland, she has become involved with the Lakeland Arts Guild.

Arlene considers herself an expressionist.  She communicates feeling through color making the color composition the primary focus of her work.   She uses nature as a springboard for many of her pieces, playfully indulging the relationship between shape and color to produce a work apart from what we perceive as reality.  The colors are harmonious and yet so deliciously energetic that they practically produce that involuntary salivation one gets before delighting the senses with something tart and tangy.

Arlene’s vibrant, recognizable style will be featured at Bug’s Splatter Gallery from April 29th through July 29th with an opening reception (public invited) on April 29th.  Please join us.
